The Operation

The operation has a long operating history and extensive gold production record; this project will be a cornerstone in the company portfolio possessing current resources totalling over 6 million ounces and reserves in excess of 1.6Moz.

The development of a new decline to reach the top of the ore at 1000m is on schedule. Target depth is expected to be reached in the June quarter and pre-production and trial mining will follow. Plant refurbishment and recommissioning is underway and expected to run until July 2008.

Ore is planned to be extracted from both underground and open pit resources with the initial expected production rate of 600ktpa from underground.  A comprehensive resource drilling campaign is being carried out with expected target generation to extend mine life beyond the current 12 years.

Responsibilities of the role include;

• Implementation of underground mining plans for the operation.
• Ensuring efficient mining operations extract the current ore reserves within defined time frames at the most economic rates.

To be successful in this role you will require;

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or Geology together with experience in mine production and planning.
