Our Client operates a world-class gold mining operation in Papua New Guinea and are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Metallurgist to join their technical group.

The person they are seeking will have metallurgical experience in complex gold process and sound knowledge of safe work isolation procedures with management level experience

The primary purpose of this position is to manage and ensure safe operation of the processing plant is achieved through control and optimisation of processing plant comprising of Crushing, Grinding, Flotation, Acid Pressure Oxidation, utilising 4 autoclaves, 3 Oxygen plants, Lime Plant, Tailings Detoxification and a leach/CIP circuit. This will also be achieved through metallurgical accounting and research, implementation of process improvement strategies and technical support for the operations personnel. You will also be responsible for supervising, coordinating and controlling all metallurgy operations, pursuing new methods and practices for improving plant performance, allocating resources and supervising technical research projects. 

To be considered for this position, you will ideally have the following skills and experience: 

• Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering
• At least 5 years experience in all aspects of gold extraction
• Commitment to train both nationals and expatriates
• Proven leadership and communication skills
• Commitment to safety and Environment

 It is also desirable that you posses:

• Sound knowledge in metallurgical databases and accounting systems
• Experience in procurement of equipment, materials, consumables and reagent
• Knowledge of hazardous chemical storage and a First Aid Certificate
