GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING JOBS: 8097 - Underground Senior Geotechnical Engineer - TAS
Our Client is an Australian based mining company. Their operation is located in Tasmania.
Our Client is currently seeking an experienced Underground Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team. This position will be reporting directly to the Mining Manager. The underground operation will provide some geotechnical stimulation and challenges going forward into the future.
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer is a key part of the Mining Team, who is responsible for advice, planning and methodology to optimise underground, open pit, waste dump, mine design and mine infrastructure development through the application of rock mechanics principles.
Requirements of the role
- Advise and assist engineers with recommendations on geotechnical issues regarding mine design/planning and operations as requested
- Implementing monitoring regimes in respect to dumping, surface run off and groundwater flows and slope/ground monitoring
- Conducting geotechnical inspections in pits, underground, dumps and stockpiles and tailings dams
- Developing standards and procedures for monitoring, conducting geotechnical inspections
- Developing and monitoring safe work practices on or around slopes or underground and mine infrastructure
- Supervision of technical staff in their day to day activities
- Assist with ongoing project works
To be successful, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary degree, Mining Engineering/and or Geological Engineering
- At least 3 years experience in underground mining (essential) and open pit mining (desirable)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A strong results orientation.
- Focus on continuous improvement / innovation
- Must be computer literate with Surpac
You will be rewarded with a substantial salary package as well as housing and amenities supplied. Reasonable relocation expenses will be paid.
