MINE MANAGER

Our client is an international and well regarded Company which has an operating open pit mine in the mid west region of Western Australia. The project commenced operations in early 2010. The project involves the mining, crushing, screening and transport of ore from three existing pits to the nearest port. Mining, crushing, haulage and shipment of ore is planned over the next five years,

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mine Manager's position is a key leadership role for the project and would be responsible for all aspects of operation of the mine, associated facilities and infrastructure, as well as managing technical, supervisory and field staff and outside contractors

Responsibilities for the position

• Discharge responsibilities as RM and QM for the operation, ensuring the project complies will statutory requirements for the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations
• Lead safety performance of the site through implementation of OH&S
• Manage environmental performance, cost effectiveness and production targets
• Manage personnel on the project, with recruitment, training, development and performance
• Manage community relationships
• Develop and manage KPI's along with Management team
• Compilation of budgets and forecasts
• Direct and manage mine plan to deliver objectives
• Manage the accommodation facilities and contractors for support facilities
• Contribute to the development of Company standards and procedures

Requirements for the position

• Degree in Mining Engineering
• 7+years previous open pit experience 
• Lead site safety initiatives and ensure safety targets are achieved
• Must have at minimum an unrestricted QM ticket 
• Knowledge of Mines Safety Inspection Act and Regulations
• Knowledge of modern mining methods, crushing and road and rail haulage
• Ability to prepare schedules and short term planning
• Budgeting and cost management skills
• Ability to develop and implement management and business systems and processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Roster is flexible to suit the candidate's requirements
