OPEN PIT MINE MANAGER - INTERNATIONAL - SE ASIA

 Our Client is a significant Australasian gold producer with a portfolio of operating, development and exploration assets. The Company has assets spread across the world.

At the operation based in SE Asia tour Client is looking for an Open Pit Mine Manager to join their team.

Reporting to the General Manager, this role would be responsible for the management of all surface mining functions, in a manner which maximises the value of the resources whilst maintaining the sustainable, efficient and safe operation of the mine, including continuous improvement and legislative requirements. The role will actively contribute to the alignment of the mine operations and LOM plan with the strategic direction for the Company.

The accountabilities for this position would be:

  • Establish the minimum operating standards for the operation and have these communicated, actioned and supervised
  • Provide leadership to ensure benchmark safety performance is achieved within a reasonable time with continuous improvements thereafter
  • Manage the open pit mining production, ensuring that safety, physical and cost targets are achieved or exceeded
  • Review and maintain the short and long term mine plans including the five year plan, annual mine plans, LOM plan and other schedules
  • Manage the operation in a manner which ensures compliance with statutory requirements
  • Provide effective operational monitoring, evaluation for variances and non performance
  • Provide risk assessed and cost benefit evaluation for capital expenditure and improvement initiatives
  • Provide management and leadership to mining personnel in alignment with Company culture and values and business plan
  • Comply with all safety requirements
  • Project work as required

The requirements for this position would be:

  • Degree qualified Mining Engineer or equivalent
  • Have previous experience in a senior supervisory role in mining, 10+ years open pit experience
  • Relevant mine planning and or mine geology experience
  • Previous international experience would be a distinct advantage
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills including goal setting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Have a strong commitment to safe working practices 
  • Demonstrate effective people management skills
  •  Display effective problem solving skills
  • Use of Mining software

This is a residential position based in SE Asia
