MINING ENGINEERING JOBS: 8229 - Technical Services Manager - Residential - International

Our client operates a large scale open pit mining operation and they are looking for a suitably qualified Technical Services Manager for their operation.

This is an International residential role and the Company will pay reasonable relocation expenses, temporary accommodation, as well as competitive salary, superannuation, vehicle allowance, performance bonus, exceptional bonus, gainshare, medical insurance, life and disability insurance. 

Reporting to the Mine Manager you will lead, manage and develop the Technical Services Team to deliver and carry out coordinated comprehensive geological advice, mine plans and survey services for the operations whilst complying with safety and environmental standards..

Accountabilities for this position

  • Ensure that the value of the operational open pit mining resources are optimised, through accurate and timely planning, modeling, analysis and short term to long term mine planning
  • Ensure that the technical team remains technologically competitive in the areas of resources estimation, mining geology and mine planning
  • Ensure that mine designs are based on suitable geological, geotechnical and operational assessment of stability, risk and economics
  • Ensure that performance is monitored with corrective actions taken to minimise potential losses
  • Ensure that plans are in place to monitor and manage geological and geotechnical risks
  • Develop and implement a document control system for mine plans and surveys
  • Lead and encourage best mining practice by developing and implementing systems of reconciliation and reporting
  • Maintain communications with operations to ensure mine planning, surveying and required activities are carried out to the highest standard
  • Project works as required by Mine Manager
  • Manage recruitment, development, training and mentoring of personnel

Requirements for this position

  • Geology or Mining Engineering Degree  
  • 10+ years previous experience in an open pit coal mine 
  • Experience with a Senior Technical position in a similar open pit operation
  • Practical knowledge of short and long term planning, resource estimation and reconciliation techniques, applied geology, open pit mining equipment and methodology 
  • Have a strong commitment to safe working practices 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
