ENGINEERING JOBS: 7314 - Senior Network Engineer CLOSED

On behalf of our Client, we are currently recruiting for a highly professional and experienced Senior Network Engineer to work within their busy IT department.  As an industry professional, you will be required to troubleshoot network performance issues, as well as analyse network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions. The successful candidate will share their time between their current mining operations and the Perth CBD office.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities include:                                        

  • Planning and coordinating installation of in-house and remote hardware software
  • Designing and implementing strategic plans to ensure the network meets existing and future requirements
  • Ensuring the stable operation and efficient performance of company networks
  • Inspecting, maintaining and monitoring the system performance and research and recommend enhancements to meet new and changing network demands
  • Developing and delivering methodologies for testing network hardware and equipment
  • Managing and ensuring the security solutions work effectively, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Interacting and negotiating with vendors, outsources and contractors to secure network products and services
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining IT policies and procedures and ensuring all procedures are carried out in a safe manner
  • Preparing annual budgets and monthly reports

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • A university or TAFE qualification in a computer discipline
  • Cisco CCNA/CCIE certified
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience in installing and supporting satellite equipment, IP and digital phone systems, long haul microwave radio equipment and WAN Acceleration technology
  • Competency in installing and terminating Fibre Optic cabling
  • Working knowledge of UHF radio equipment and radio rebroadcast systems
  • Experience in disaster recover planning and implementation
  • Project management skills
  • Effective leadership and personnel management skills
  • Solid interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a high pressurised environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations
