ENGINEERING JOBS: 8469 Lead Cost Engineer - Closed

Our client focused on copper production, and is one of the world's leading natural resources groups. They operates 17 underground and open pit mines across Eastern Europe. They are looking for a Lead c\Cost Engineer to join them.

Position Description:              

 The Lead Cost Engineer is accountable to the Project Controls Manager and will provide a critical role in the provision of in house project control services, by managing the cost function of the project.

Key Accountabilities:

  •     Management and control of the project budget.
  •     Liaise with all managers to ascertain costs and schedule impact of trends and changes.
  •     Preparation of data for monthly and regular costing reporting.
  •     Supervision of trend and scope change programme.
  •     Supervision of cost control team.
  •     Preparation of the Cost Engineering procedures.
  •     Advice to the Project Controls Manager and Project team of results of analysis of cost data.
  •     Manage the Quality Tracking programme.
  •     Monitor and maintain the EPCM and management forecasts.
  •     Maintain the project risk register.
  •     Supervise regular cost reviews and prepare data for inclusion in the Definitive Estimate.
  •     Prepare detailed commitment and cash flows.                                              

Professional Qualities

  •     Bachelor Degree in Engineering, or Construction Management preferred.
  •     Minimum of 8 years of Project Cost Engineering experience in the mining/construction industry.
  •     Experience in all phases of project implementation from feasibility study to commissioning and start-up.
  •     Proven capability to undertake all aspects of project controls.
  •     Proficient with project controls specialist software and generic database & spreadsheet software.
  •     Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities and achieve project deadlines.
  •     Self-motivated and capable of working with minimum direct supervision and adapting to changing circumstances.
  •     Previous experience in an expatriate role, preferably in Central Asia.
  •     Preferably work experience in FSU or other cold weather region

Working Conditions

  •     Initial work period in contractor’s office
  •     Resident assignment status, accompanied or unaccompanied.
  •     Frequent travel to project site.
