GEOLOGY JOBS: 7048 - Senior Open Pit Mine Geologist - CLOSED
Our client is a supplier of high quality Western Australian iron ore to major world markets. Reporting to the Resident Manager, this position is required to provide the Resident Manager with all volume and grade reporting and to support geological staff with best practice methods. This position is FIFO, working a 9/5 roster with 12 hour days.
The key elements of this position include:
Lead the geology team
- Supervision of ore blocking process to generate accurate dig plans
- Provide ore reconciliations – reporting predicted vs actual grade
- Assist with regular mine production schedules
- Assist logging blast cones
- Monitor dilution and take samples where necessary
- Contractor supervision
- Provide ore volumes and grades for mine planning
- Recruit geologists and pit technicians
- Train and supervise geologists and pit technicians to achieve maximum understanding of the ore body, so that dilution can be efficiently reduced
- Provide daily movement reporting, blast reconciliations and monthly reconciliations against block model reporting
- Data administration
The successful candidate will meet the following key criteria
- Degree qualified in geology
- Minimum of 8 years experience as a mine geologist
- Surpac experience
- Open pit experience (minimum of 5 years)
- Experience with grade control
- Experience with stock-pile blending
- Experience in block modeling (preferred)
- Iron ore experience (preferred)
- Experience working on a large scale operation of approx 100 MTAP movement (preferred)
