Our clients vision is to be a successful and growing Australian gold company, and this new opening for a Principal Regional Geologist will be essential in achieving such success through the identification of new projects that meet their criteria.   This is a Perth based role and you will be responsible for identifying and analysing advanced gold projects for acquisition throughout Australia and overseas, and providing recommendations to executive management
responsible for the identification and assessment of advanced targets within the region. 

You will be expected to have a keen understanding of the regional setting and upside potential of projects.  A strong understanding of the structural controls on gold mineralisation in a wide range of geological settings, combined with business analytical skills, will be essential to your success in this role.

THE ROLE

• Identifying and ranking of exploration prospects and opportunities
• Geological assessment and evaluation of exploration upside potential
• Putting a wide range of mineralized occurrences rapidly into a regional geological setting through mineral province analysis
• Monitoring competitor activities and new discoveries and developments
• Participate in geological reviews of key projects to ensure valuation and commercial issues incorporated into resource estimation
• Work with geoscientists to produce a probabilistic model of resource potential using software such as @Risk
• Undertake financial valuation to produce an expected net present value for identified projects
• Obtain best estimates for the production rate, capital and operating costs for a project from internal and external sources
• Identification of key investment issues for opportunities and if necessary be able to present key issues in a risk tree
• Value upside potential using basic financial analysis and rank opportunities
• Undertake industry research and monitor the industry and identify acquisition opportunities
• Be a bridge and work well between financial and technical experts during the due diligence
• Report to senior management
  

THE CANDIDATE

• Degree in Geology
• Demonstrable experience of some 10 years or more, ideally in gold exploration
• Thorough knowledge of geological and mineralizing models for targeting
• Gold industry and M&A knowledge
• An understanding of financial analysis methods with advanced spreadsheet skills
• Strong geological analytical skills
• Self motivation and an ability to work  as part of a team
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent verbal and communication skills
• Understanding of mining and processing issues, costs and drivers
• Provide advice on the quantification of probabilistic estimates
