The Manager Rolling Stock Maintenance (RSM) will be accountable for, and lead a multi-skilled team of professionals in the maintenance of the rolling stock (including locomotives, ore cars and ancillary rolling stock); being responsible for ensuring all maintenance facilities and equipment are maintained to a standard which enables the business to safely operate in an effective and efficient manner to achieve business production targets.
The Manager RSM will support the General Manager (GM) Rail by providing leadership, guidance and direction to the RSM team across a range of disciplines as the project moves from the design and construction phase into a full operating entity, including: assisting the GM Rail in developing and consolidating a strong safety culture; the preparation of standards, policies and procedures; the development of budgets and appropriate maintenance strategies; and, participating in design reviews, commissioning and acceptance sign off.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide strong, visible leadership to the Railroad RSM team and wider Rail team.
- Ensure effective use of the Performance Review Process, by ensuring 100 day plans and competencies are in place and achieved, to drive individual performance and develop capability.
- Develop and implement a maintenance strategy that delivers target availability and reliability as set and agreed with the GM Rail.
- Develop and implement business processes required to maintain and improve the maintenance department output.
- Ensure fit for purpose reliability, maintenance and planning practices are in place.
- Resolve maintenance priorities in conformance with short-term and long-term business goals.
- Initiate projects and direct activities leading to continuous improvement of safety and production.
- Lead in the development of maintenance strategies and procedures aimed at ensuring safe and efficient RSM facilities and rolling stock.
- Ensure that cost controls are congruent with organisational objectives.
- Manage asset maintenance to ensure a high level of reliability and availability are attained.
- Attain high levels of reliability and availability through the management of asset maintenance.
