MINING ENGINEERING JOBS: 8855 - Mining Manager / Alternate GM - Overseas CLOSED

 

Our Client has a significant Gold Project, located in West Africa where they are using conventional open pit mining methods.  At the current ore reserves, they have an existing life of mine of over 10 years.

Currently they require a MINING MANAGER / ALTERNATE GM with strong interpersonal and functional skills.

To ensure the mining operation delivers ore at budgeted tonnes, grade and cost you will need to be able to meet the following criteria:

Requirements

  • Ability to act as Site Operations Manager and alternate GM
  • Must be fully conversant with world class safety and environmental management
  • Ideally has developed management systems and processes with regards to strategic/tactical planning and business growth
  • To monitor drill/blast, load/haul and ancillary performance, with a view to constant improvement in both quality and costs
  • Ability to represent the company and work with Government Officials and Local Chiefs and Landholders
  • Life of Mine (LOM) updates on a rolling yearly basis to produce production budget;
  •  Ensure quarterly production forecasts are produced on a rolling monthly basis to meet production budget;
  • Ensure fortnightly production schedules are produced on a rolling weekly basis to meet production budget;
  •  Preparation and/or review of all daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports;
  • Compilation and/or review of all mining data for budgeting purposes;
  • Monitor all paperwork and ensure the relevance and necessity of the data being collected;
  • Generation and review of current and future pit designs, waste dumps, haul roads and any other mining infrastructure

Requirements

  • Qualified Mining Engineer
  • Excellent communicator
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of employees from professionals to graduates and Locals
  • Use of Vulcan Software would be advantageous
  • Ability to manage the Contractors and their fleet of equipment
  • Must be physically fit to endure extremely hot conditions
  • A knowledge of the French language would be advantageous

Roster is either 8 weeks (56 days) on site 4 weeks (28 days) off site, travel in company time or 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off travel in own time with business airfares for long haul flights to anywhere in the world
