Our Client, a West Australian based supplier of iron ore to the Chinese and Japanese markets is now seeking a Manager Mine Planning & Technical Services to become an integral part their team.
Key responsibilities include;
- Promotes and implements health and safety programs targeting an injury free workplace and establishes a culture of safety awareness underpinned by superior safety leadership and the application of safe work practices and the principles of duty of care.
- Ensures that procedures and programs designed to minimise the impact of the operations on the environment are implemented and monitored across the Area of accountability.
- Leadership and management of all activities within the Area of accountability in accordance within relevant Statutory requirements and establish the company’s policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that the wellbeing and conduct of staff is beyond reproach at all times including outside of general working hours.
- Through superior managerial leadership, on an individual level create a culture that is receptive to change, responds to feedback and strives for excellence and continuous improvement.
- Responsible for the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of all aspects of the Mine Planning & Technical Services function within the operations - covering the following activities:
- Development of short & long term mine plans and production schedules that delivers to customer’s consistently high quality products that meet all specifications.
- Optimising the end-to-end planning process incorporating the various stages from Life-of-Mine planning through to short term scheduling.
- Providing technical support and oversight of the operational/production mining activities to ensure safe, effective and cost efficient implementation of the short term plans/schedules.
- Key functions/activities include: survey; geology/geotech; mine planning & scheduling
- In collaboration with the Manager Operations, optimizes mining plans and schedules that optimize both ore production and mining fleet efficiencies.
- Providing mining engineering solutions to effectively manage technical risks associated with open-cut mining, by ensuring relevant geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological analyses and reviews.
- Ensuring that effective working relationships are built and maintained with other departments/stakeholders within the company and other business units to ensure that shared strategic Company goals and targets are collectively achieved.
- Developing current and long-range cost-effective plans and objectives for the Mining & Technical Services area and reviews analyses of their progressive attainment.
- Identification and implementation of improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs, ensuring opportunities and projects are appropriately planned and implemented and benefits realized.
- Reviewing projections for capital and operating expenditure and regularly monitors and controls performance against budgeted financial targets.
- Measuring the performance of the Mine Planning & Technical Services team and provides effective leadership.
- Ensuring that employees in the Mine Planning & Technical Services area are motivated, competent and well trained and effective monitoring is in place to provide feedback on performance levels and encourage a high performance work culture.
- Responsible for effective top-down and bottom-up communications systems throughout the Mine Planning & Technical Services area.
The successful candidate will possess:
- 10+ years proven experience in operational and technical management of open-pit mining operations.
- A solid grounding in both practical open pit mining operations and mine design and planning.
- Degree in Mining Engineering.
- Unrestricted Quarry Manager Certificate (or ability to acquire certification
