Our Client is a leading international mining company with many advanced explorations projects located around the world. Our Clients mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia. You have the opportunity to explore the possibilities that only a world-class mining operator can provide as they are currently seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their team.

Principal duties include:

• In consultation with the Group Mining Engineer, acts as the disciplinary head for Geotechnical Engineering in the region
• Development and implementation of systems for ground control management in operating mines in the region
• Technical support to the operating mines (both open pit and underground)
• Technical support to the Technical Services Group
• Review and audit Ground Control Management Plans at operating mines
• Project Improvement/Research & Development
• Trouble shooting
• Act as the regional representative at Geotechnical conferences
• Report on geotechnical matters to the Group Mining Engineer
• The position is based in Perth, although regular trips to the mine sites in the region will be required

To be considered for this role the successful candidate will possess;

• Affiliations: Membership of The AusIMM and a Geomechanics Society would be well regarded
• Extensive experience in open pit and underground operations
• Good communication and presentation skills both oral and written
• Self motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Relevant computer skills in word processing, spread sheeting and geotechnical analysis
