SURVEYING JOBS: 6822 - Chief Surveyor - Malaysia

Our client, a well-establish Malaysian gold explorer with projects in the Pahang State region, is seeking the services of an experienced Chief Surveyor. The primary objectives of this role are to set up the survey control function and equipment as well as establish mine site operational systems and procedures. The role will also be required to exhibit strong leadership and training to local surveyors.

The project will initially operate on a 4 weeks on 2 weeks off international FIFO roster, however may go residential at a later stage dependent upon project requirements. The role would ideally suit a "hands-on" Chief Surveyor with a "can do" attitude.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will liaise on a day-to-day basis with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Compliance with all Company policies & procedures
  • Management of the survey budget and ensure onging training & development of the Survey Department
  • Management/Maintenance of the spatial information & datasets
  • Develop & maintain the work practices & procedures of the highest professional & safety standards in order to achieve peak performance of mine production functions.
  • Management of all aspects of the Survey Department, including training, succession planning and general staff development.

 

Experience & Requirments

To succeed in this challenging role, you will require:

  • A minimum of 10 years survey experience in an open pit mining environment, preferably with some of this experience in a Chief Surveyor or minimum Senior Surveyor capacity
  • A Degree or Diploma in Surveying, including authorization as a Mine Surveyor within Australia
  • Excellent communications skills (both written & verbal)
  • The ability to provide leadership, supervision & mentoring of staff
  • The capacity to coordinate all aspects of the survey process
  • Strong Microsoft Office suite skills, along with Knowledge of Surpac & other mining survey software
  • A professional & responsible attitued, as well as reliability & self motivation
