MINE SURVEYING JOBS: 7361 - Chief Surveyor - CLOSED

Our client, a progressive WA iron ore producer, is seeking the services of an experienced Chief Surveyor. The primary objectives of this role are to provide safe, accurate, cost effective and timely spatial information across the organization, as well as to exhibit strong leadership and provide innovation in the development and continual improvement of the Survey Department. The project operates on a 9/5 FIFO roster from Perth.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will liaise on a day-to-day basis with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Management of the survey budget and ensure ongoing training & development of the Survey Department
  • Compliance with all Company policies & procedures, along with the Mining Act and Regulations
  • Management/Maintenance of the spatial information & data sets
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of Surveyed & Hauled mined volumes
  • Fulfil the reconciliation requirements of the monthly mining schedule and the spatial information requirements of the planning department
  • Develop & maintain the work practices & procedures of the highest professional & safety standards in order to achieve peak performance of mine production functions.
  • Management of all aspects of the Survey Department, including training, succession planning and general staff development
  • Implement business improvement initiatives, with particular emphasis on technology & industry developments

Experience & Requirements

To succeed in this challenging role, you will require:

  • A minimum of 8 years survey experience in an open pit mining environment, preferably with some of this experience in a Chief Surveyor or minimum Senior Surveyor capacity
  • A Degree or Diploma in Surveying, including authorization as a Mine Surveyor within WA
  • Excellent communications skills (both written & verbal)
  • The ability to provide leadership, supervision & mentoring of staff
  • The capacity to coordinate all aspects of the survey process
  • Strong Microsoft Office suite skills, along with Knowledge of Surpac & other mining survey software
  • A professional & responsible attitude, as well as reliability & self motivation
