Our Client has become Australia's newest gold producer. It is expected that the mine will produce between 60,000 to 70,000 oz per annum and 80,000 oz in coming years.
They are currently seeking a suitably experienced Safety Advisor to join their operation based in North Queensland.
Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to;
- Upholding the values of the good HSE performance
- Undertake duties of Emergency Medical Technician
- Undertake duties of Radiation Safety officer (Mill Advisor)
- Mine Rescue coordinator / trainer
- Support NQM Corporate Health and Safety management requirements
- Compliance and Implementation of Integrated management system
- Driving and Improving culture towards safety requirements across the board
- Provide health and safety advice to department managers
- Provide advice, guidance and assistance in developing health and safety plans for NQM Gold
- Fulfill NQM Gold health and safety support role in short term projects as required
- Fulfill basic health safety and environment role relieving another department health and safety advisor
- Conduct health and safety audits of NQM Gold as required
- Facilitate investigations as required into NQM Gold incidents
- Develop and deliver health and safety training packages to address identified gaps in NQM Gold team knowledge
- Facilitate risk assessments JSAs and safe work method development as required by the Department Managers
- Deliver and assess NQM Gold induction training
- Development, maintenance and carrying out of auditing schedules and requirements
- Development, maintenance and carrying out of occupational hygiene monitoring schedules and requirements including equipment calibration
- Maintenance and implementation of Health and Safety Training Needs
- Analysis and scheduled training
- Conduct Site inspections as required
- Administration duties required by site HSE meetings
- Support and facilitation for of contractor management and assist contractors to achieve their HSE obligations.
- Rehabilitation and workers compensation administration
The successful candidate will possess;
- A minimum of 3 -5 years previous experience in a similar position within the mining industry
- Appropriate qualifications in OHS including Cert IV Training
- Exposure to auditing and OHS systems
- Excellent organisational skills
- Solid knowledge of the relevant legislations and Australian standards
- Willingness to be hands on and a mentor
- Great communication skills and a desire to work in and contribute to a team culture
