Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Metallurgist to join their gold operation in Western Australia.

You will bring at least 4 years operational experience in a gold operation and be looking for the challenge of using your technical expertise to support the Processing Manager.

As an industry professional, you will be responsible for mentoring your plant metallurgists and also be capable of filling in for the Processing Manager on operational functions as required. A full job description is available to interested candidates.

About the Position:

• Develop the metallurgical strategy for achieving the agreed annual targets of the operations and review progress against these plans
• Cascade business objectives through the metallurgical team to ensure all activities are focused on agreed outcomes
• Develop short medium and long term treatment plans to ensure plant availability and optimization
• Consult relevant production and maintenance personnel in relation to relevant schedules
• Monitor plant performance and analyse data to provide performance trends and improvements
• Optimise, maintain, and upgrade the plant control systems as required
• Ensure that all instrumentation is operating at the required level and ensure calibration is completed on a timely basis
• Investigate all process failures and develop and implement solutions to prevent recurrences
• Design and implement metallurgical research and development projects to investigate potential plant improvements
• Identify bottlenecks and use problem solving tools, techniques and business improvement teams to identify business solutions
• Develop project proposals for approval by the Processing Manager
• Review the financial performance of all metallurgical projects
• Review and monitor all safety, production and financial performance indicators and initiate corrective action where necessary

Requirements:

• Tertiary Qualification in Metallurgy
• Leadership and management of metallurgy and laboratory functions within a gold processing operation
• Details working knowledge of Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations
• Knowledge of the storage, handling and use of reagents and the elimination of process waste
• Memberhip of AusIMM
• Metallurgical accounting and competent in the use of metallurgical accounting databases
• Experience in the sue of an integrated management system such as PRONTO
• Strong report writing and presentation skills
• Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence / Ability to  pass a GSDU / Pre-employment medical / Drug screen and provide suitable references
