Our Client is the world's leading producer of nickel and palladium, and one of the largest global producers of platinum and copper.

Principal Accountability of the Role;

- The Senior Mine Planning Engineer is responsible for the forward planning of the mining operations aimed at identifying mineable ore reserves and ensuring they are mined and processed to give the maximum return to the company.
Prime Functions of the Role;
- Conducting Medium term and Life of Mine design, scheduling and optimisation of open pits and communicating the result of this work to the Mining team to ensure mining is undertaken in a timely fashion.
- Producing mining schedules for annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts.
- Preparation of Reserve reports as required and compilation of Mineral reports on a quarterly basis.
- Preparation and submission for Notice of Intent documentation prior to gaining approvals to clear land.
- Development and maintenance of the Mine Closure Plan.
- Design and supervision of rehabilitation programs for the mining area.
- Overseeing and managing the drill and blast operations.
- Overseeing geotechnical engineering design and implementation processes.
- Conduct minor incident investigations and assist with accident investigations associated with the Blasting operations.
- Monthly reports including validation and cost distribution for the earthmoving contractual claim and diesel fuel consumption and mine development accrual for amortisation.
- Accountable for carrying out all duties in a manner that will minimise risk and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel within area of influence including contractors.
- Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed safety goals in support of the department, site and company SHE Plans.
- Actively maintain knowledge of and compliance with all company policies, procedures and safe work practices detailed in the Site Safety Health & Environment Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Practices and Regulations Handbook and other documents that may be appropriate at your work place.
- Positively influence the safe and productive improvement of processes and practices within your work area.

- Sound knowledge of earthmoving equipment and drill and blast operations.

Qualifications and Experience;
- Degree in Mining or related discipline.
- Ability to obtain a Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency.
- A minimum of 7 years experience in open pit mining industry.
- Computer literacy – Vulcan, Microsoft Office.
- St John Ambulance First Aid Certificate (Senior)
- WA “C” Class Drivers Licence.
