PROCESSING: 5727 - Senior Technical Service Engineer

Our Client is a global specialty chemicals and materials company, focused on developing, manufacturing and selling value-added products. Their products serve a diverse range of end markets including aerospace, adhesives, automotive and industrial coatings, chemical intermediates, inks, mining and plastics.

They are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Technical Service Engineer to join their operations to provide technical support to solvent extraction (SX) operations, commercial metallurgical laboratories and engineering design companies.

Key responsibilities of this role include;

  • Ensure corrective actions are rapidly planned and implemented to achieve company KPIs
  • Provide trouble-shooting assistance to the customer to solve their technical problems and liaise with supply group
  • Takes personal accountability for assigned customer and be responsible for all company activity at the customers in the territory
  • Call on customers and targets as required in maintaining and growing business and developing the territory
  • Conduct laboratory and plant evaluation of new and existing company reagents
  • Assist the Regional Sales Manager to prepare the annual territory sales and commercial expense plan

The successful candidate will posses;

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy or relevant Industry experience
  • 2 years of operational experience in solvent extraction operations
  • Strong interpersonal with an understanding of the applications knowledge of Solvent Extraction Processes, with particular emphasis on copper solvent extraction
  • Demonstrated experience in solving technical problems at customers sites

Our Client produces copper, uranium, gold and silver from its mining and processing operation located in South Australia. The operation is a long-life asset with a very significant mineral resource base – being the world’s fourth-largest known copper resource, the fourth-largest known gold resource and the largest known uranium deposit. The expansion project, currently in its Pre-Feasibility stage, aims to significantly increase production from the deposit in the safest and most efficient manner.

They are currently seeking a suitably experience and qualified Senior Technical Metallurgist to join their South Australian operations.

Key responsibilities of this role include;

  • Providing technical input into the development of the Expansion Project Flowsheet
  • Program manage multiple activities related to flowsheet selection
  • Provide specific expertise in the areas of leaching, thickening, resin-in-pulp, ion exchange, solvent extraction, tailings management and other hydrometallurgical processes.
  • Completion of multiple concept, laboratory, pilot plant, engineering and commercial studies. 
  • You will benchmark and select best available technologies for the process routes recommended, enabling clear selection of the final process flowsheet
  • Provide specific technical input to trade-off studies for process and equipment selection and ensure all designs meet HSEC Management Standards and Fatal Risk Control Protocols. 
  • Providing input into monthly and project reporting you will assist in the development of technical scopes of work for all hydrometallurgical study test work and comply with HSEC Standards and procedures to ensure Zero Harm.

The successful candidate will possess;

  • Degree qualified in Minerals Processing Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy
  • Have related hydrometallurgical experience in an operational and project background exposure to advanced modelling and simulation software demonstrated technical capability and extensive project management experience with well developed communication skills.
  • Previous experience in the management of laboratory, pilot plant, engineering and business evaluation programs is essential
  • Experience in Copper and Uranium would be highly regarded and previous large project experience is a must
