The Company

Our client is focused on low cost, high margin gold operations.  The mine situated in the northern Goldfields of WA is the Company's cornerstone asset, with 1.6 million ounces of gold in reserves and an indicative mine life in excess of nine years.  It also has other operations throughout Western Australia.

The Company is operating in proximity to nearby townships with established infrastructure, giving it a significant advantage over newer operations.  In addition to treatment plants, infrastructure includes airstrips, power generation, accommodation, water and social infrastructure.

Responsibilities of this role include;

  • Assisting the Technical Services Superintendent in the effective and efficient management and administration of the Underground Operation
  • Contributing to a continuous planning process focused on maximisation of target ore extraction to optimise ore reserve value
  • Maintaining current and accurate mine design plans in accordance with up-to-date data on the ore reserve from geology, and the mine from survey
  • Update the mine design and plan as new data requires and revise production and development schedules and the associated mine performance forecasts
  • Revise production forecasting in association with any changes to mining methods and plant/equipment capacities
  • Jointly develop annual mine production targets with mine geology personnel for approval by the Underground Manager
  • Contribute to budgets and develop forecasts as required
  • Participate in feasibility studies with the mine team, concerning the geological, mining and economic viability of deposits, for recommendation to management
  • Take an active role in continuous improvements
  • Ensure performance against mine plans and schedules is tracked (including the use of KPI’s) and that changes are made to such plans and schedules to ensure that mine production is maintained Stope designs including dimensions, slot raise layout and ring layout, whilst considering geotechnical issues and cut-off parameters
  • Preparing stope design reports showing tonnes, grades and drill metres
  • Liaising with the longhole driller to ensure drill patterns are being adhered to and giving technical advice to ensure drilling is accurate and correct
  • Maintain a systematic approach to mine design and approvals to ensure all factors relating to the implementation of designs and plans are considered and this information is passed on where necessary.
To be successful in this role you will possess;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering
  • WA Underground Shift Supervisors Certificate or a 1st Class Mine Managers Certificate
  • 3-7 yrs experience in the mining industry
