On behalf of my client, MES is looking for an Open Pit Mining Engineer to join their Technical Services Department with the primary focus being to provide the operation with an in house capability for open pit and waste dump optimisation and design capability.
To be considered for this position, you will need to be able to demonstrate a background of optimisation using Whittle and Surpac.
Key Role Objectives

Perform open pit optimisation and design work
Design waste rock dumps and seepage drains
Preparation of mine design and optimisation study reports
Supervision of surface mining contractors as required
Perform general underground mining engineering duties

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Bachelor of Mining Engineer Degree or equivalent
3 – 5 years’ experience with Open Pit and Waste Dump optimisation, design and scheduling
Proficient with pit optimisation software (Whittle preferred), pit design software (Surpac preferred) and scheduling software (such as, Minesched or EPS)
Computer literate in Microsoft (MS) Office products such as Word and Excel (desirable)
Practical experience working in an open pit environment
Exposure to working in an underground environment, preferred but not essential
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
Honest and confidential
Pro-active, self-starter capable of working in a small team of professionals

This role is being offered only on a 5:2 DIDO roster and relocation assistance is available to a modern regional location
