MP10548 Mine Accountant

On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking a Mine Accountant to join their Finance and Commercial Team.The Mine Accountant will assist in managing and developing accounting policies and functions across site and prepare internal and external reporting and analysis requirements. 
Key Role Objectives

Ensure accuracy of data in the generation of the Trial Balance
Assist in the month end accounting functions to ensure accurate completion & reporting within deadlines
Provide support to site users in understanding and analysing of operating costs
Assist in the preparation of the monthly management reports
Maintain contracts register
Provide support in review of key operational contracts
Maintain and administer the capital accounting process and provide advice and support to the operations including projects, fixed asset register and reporting
Assist in preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecast packs
Chart of accounts maintenance and review
Contribute to the development and improvement of financial operating procedures and policies
Balance Sheet reconciliations
FBT compliance and reporting
Preparation and lodgement of quarterly ABS returns
Pronto administration
Ad hoc reports

 Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Commerce
Membership of a professional organisation (CPA/CA)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercial accounting environment
Mine site experience
Strong Excel skills
Experience & knowledge of integrated accounting systems, preferably Pronto
Ability to communicate with all levels of business and receive respect from all areas of the business
Self-motivated and enthusiastic
Ability to work in both a team environment and independently
Good organisational skills
High level of organisational and communication skills;
Keen attention to detail

Applications are sought from current/permanent residents of the NT (specifically Darwin and its surrounds) or applicants who are willing to relocate to the NT.  This position will not be suitable for fly in fly out (FIFO) arrangements, and a relocation package will be available for exceptional interstate candidates.
