MES is currently looking for an experienced open pit Mine Geology Superintendent for a 3 month contract position at our client's overseas operation.

Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will lead a team of expatriate and National Geologists and technicians in support of the mining and processing areas to maximise recovery and throughput of the Ore Reserve.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Overseeing all mining geology activities including contractors to ensure operational targets are being achieved to agreed quality and environmental standards
Planning and execution of grade control drilling and QAQC of drilling and laboratory functions
3D modelling of deposit geology and mineralisation, including estimation and definition of ore and waste parcels for mining and processing
Providing supervision and guidance to the mine’s operational activities to minimise dilution and loss and maximise project value
Providing technical support to the processing department for ore-blending and maximising plant recovery
Periodical reconciliation, and analysis of mine and mill responses in comparison to Company models
Ongoing training and development of National staff

To be successful in this role, you will require:

Degree qualification in geosciences
Significant operational experience in open pit mine geology, including experience at Superintendent level
Proven experience and understanding of Surpac, Datamine or similar mining software package
Excellent analytical and problem solving ability, with a track record of delivering continuous improvement
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with a diverse range of people and cultures, and build cross-discipline relationship
