						<title>GEOLOGY: 5669 - Chief Geologist, South West</title>
						<description>The development of our client into a diversified national group commenced in 1979 with the strategic decision to diversify its interests from coal mining to include agriculture and commercial property development. Since this time&amp;nbsp;our client has&amp;nbsp;established and acquired a range of business units to build a sustainable portfolio with representation in various industries. Position Objective: Provide the Geology team with the leadership, coordination and standards required to ensure that operational geological models are validated and maintained, so the planning staff has access to the most up to date geological information to use as the basis of the plans.&amp;nbsp; The role includes the communication of these plans and the measurement and reporting of the performance of the operation against these plans. Key Accountabilities: Accountable for ensuring that the updating and validation of the short term geological model to provide up to date interpretations of the seam geometry, structure, thickness quality and location within the sequence, utilising all available data. Sign off and provide to the planning engineers the most up to date &amp;amp; validated geological model for mine planning purposes.&amp;nbsp; Model release must be controlled with an appropriate documentation and audit trail.&amp;nbsp; Is accountable for the formal reconciliation of the geological model against the actual in-ground or as built model on a monthly basis, incorporating seam geometry, structure, thickness quality and location within the sequence on a monthly basis, this report is to be submitted to the Technical Services Manager and Short Term Planning &amp;amp; Reconciliation Engineer in the first week of each month. Provide to the Production Engineer and other stake holders coal quality forecasts based on the planned weekly excavation sequence &amp;amp; 3 Month Plan.&amp;nbsp; Identify and communicate any risks to meeting the coal quality supply contracts at the weekly planning meeting. Accountable for the in-pit coal quality sampling programme to effectively and efficiently forecast and communicate to the weekly and daily planning meetings any coal quality risks.&amp;nbsp; Use the data collected to update the geological model. Manage and direct the collection of geological data from within the pit exposures, by directing the survey department to pick up seam roof &amp;amp; floor data in a timely manner to allow the geological model to be updated as required. Manage near mine exploration and incorporate data into new model and maintain close liaison with Perth exploration so as to guarantee database integrity. Undertake project work as directed by the Planning and Operations Manager. Produce annual budget and business plan documentation. Is required to prepare &amp;amp; present relevant planning information to crews or supervisor teams at musters and tool box talks. Sets annual performance objectives and expectations which are clearly communicated to each direct report, and are filtered throughout the Company, to ensure individual goal setting and performance can be measured against the Company's strategic plan. Clearly assigns and communicates responsibilities and tasks to each direct reports establishes effective controls and&amp;nbsp; ensures they have the necessary resources and authority, and monitors the results of delegations, assignments or projects considering the skills knowledge and experience required.&amp;nbsp; Qualifications &amp;amp; Experience:&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; The incumbent is required to hold a degree in Geology and to have worked in a mine geologist role providing ongoing development and maintenance of geological models and databases.&amp;nbsp; In addition, he/she must have experience with exploration, management of rigs, be experienced in a dynamic mining environment providing support in reconciliation.
