Our client, a successful mineral-focused Company with an initial mine life of up to 50 years, requires a Principal Hydrogeologist. The project is designed to be a low-cost, long-life, high-margin producer.

Requirements:

  • BSc in Geoscience & MSc in Hydrogeology highly regarded;
  • Knowledge of brine resources and JORC reporting requirements;
  • Management and supervision of personnel;
  • Development of hydrogeological plans, budgets and schedules;
  • Understanding of  QA/QC of field data and maintaining databases;
  • Operational knowledge of borefield management, brine, pumping hydraulics and pumps;
  • Knowledge of numerical modelling and using numerical models.

 

Position Duties:

  • Provide technical leadership in the area of hydrogeology and brine abstraction for operations and expansion;
  • Ensuring the brine abstraction is aligned with the mine plan;
  • Ensuring brine resource models are kept up to date;
  • Managing and overseeing site field operations and conducting hydrogeological assessments;
  • Plan, supervise and ensure efficient execution of hydrogeological investigation and testing programs;
  • Develop and maintain groundwater databases;
  • Overseeing hydrogeology activities without interruption to other site activities;
  • Implement procedures necessary to undertake the day-to-day hydrogeology activities on-site;
  • Preparing site reports and overseeing site safety of hydrogeology activities;
  • Government reporting to the Department of Water, Environmental Protection Authority, Environmental Protection Biodiversity and Conservation Act.
Experience
10 plus years related experience in hydrogeological investigation planning and field execution.
