Our client, a successful mineral-focused Company with an initial mine life of up to 50 years, requires a Principal Hydrogeologist. The project is designed to be a low-cost, long-life, high-margin producer.

Requirements:

  • Min of a BSc in Geoscience. MSc in Hydrogeology and working towards professional accreditation highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of brine resources and JORC reporting requirements is highly regarded.
  • Competence and working knowledge of health and safety.
  • Management and supervision of personnel and, in particular site based technical staff and contractors;
  • Development of hydrogeological plans, budgets and schedules;
  • Solid understanding of  QA/QC of field data and maintaining databases of extensive monitoring and production bore networks.
  • Operational knowledge of borefield management, brine, pumping hydraulics and pumps.
  • Knowledge of numerical modeling and using numerical models is advantageous.

Position Duties:

  • Provide technical leadership in the area of hydrogeology and brine abstraction for operations and expansion;
  • Ensuring the brine abstraction is aligned with the mine plan;
  • Ensuring brine resource models are kept up to date;
  • Managing and overseeing site field operations and conducting hydrogeological assessments;
  • Plan, supervise and ensure efficient execution of hydrogeological investigation and testing programs;
  • Develop and maintain groundwater databases and reporting systems and reports for all hydrogeological activities for the company;
  • Overseeing hydrogeology activities are co-ordinated without interruption to other site activities;
  • Development and implementation of the processes and procedures necessary to undertake the day-to-day hydrogeology activities on-site;
  • Preparing all site reports and overseeing site safety of hydrogeology activities;
  • Government reporting to the Department of Water, Environmental Protection Authority, Environmental Protection Biodiversity and Conservation Act (Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment)
Experience
10 plus years related experience in hydrogeological investigation planning and field execution.
