Our client, a successful mineral-focused Company with an initial mine life of up to 50 years, requires a Processing Manager. The project was designed to be a low-cost, long-life, high-margin producer of Sulphate of Potash.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy;
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, environment, community, and workplace diversity;
  • Experience in salt evaporative ponds, salt washing plants, and hydro-metallurgical processes preferred;
  • A strong background in driving operational improvements;
  • Current manual driver’s license;
  • National police clearance.

Position Duties:

  • Technical expertise in chemical processes and hydrometallurgy across the brine extraction, evaporation, and SOP purification plant.
  • Conduct recognition, performance, and development reviews with direct report;
  • Lead and motivate the Process team (Engineers and Laboratory staff) and support the Production and Maintenance Superintendents to achieve budgeted production standards within specified parameters and in a safe manner;
  • Oversee production activities; Borefields, brine transfer, evaporation ponds, harvesting, blending and processing plant whilst providing technical input;
  • Reporting metrics for site performance;
  • Ensure accuracy of metallurgical accounting, and prepare weekly & monthly forecasts and reports.
  • Effectively manage the BSOP costs to deliver on, or better than, budgeted targets;
  • Oversee and deliver accurate and timely cost and production reporting to the Company;

  • Drive the company towards sustained performance through continuous improvement initiatives driving improved safety, production, environmental, heritage and community results and increasing the margin between revenue and costs;
  • Assist in the development of the Operations’ future direction and provide tactical initiatives in conjunction with the GM Operations;
  • Support the Technical Services Manager and Projects Team to identify and deliver projects as required to meet operational needs and continuous improvement in performance;
  • Participate and ensure statutory compliance in all safety-related matters;
  • Manage relevant contracts to achieve all agreed performance targets through the effective use of contractors, personnel, and equipment, in accordance with agreed contractual terms;
  • Identify best metallurgical practice and integrate this into the ongoing operation of the plant flowing commissioning;
Experience
15 to 20 years’ relevant experience – for example; chAemical processing, fertiliser manufacturing, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role of similar responsibility and scope;
