MES is currently looking for an experienced Open Pit Mining Manager for an approximate 6-month contract with potential for a permanent position commencing in January 2020 in an overseas operation.
Skills and experience

Degree qualification in mining engineering
Outstanding leadership ability and proven capacity to deliver safe and high-performance outcomes
Extensive experience in open cut, metalliferous mining operations with an owner miner fleet
A proven safety performer leading a large department, strong risk-based management skills and knowledge
Recent experience as a Mining Manager or considerable experience at Superintendent level ready to step up
Exposure to technically challenging operations – e.g. heavy rainfall, variable ore bodies, geotechnical ground conditions
Previous expatriate experience with demonstrated success in developing a national workforce preferred
Superior communication and interpersonal skills
Strong continuous improvement and strategic focus
High levels of energy, commitment and tenacity

Position Duties:

  • Mine Production at the main open pit and development of satellite pit(s), waste dumps, quarries and mine road network
  • Mine Planning, Mine Development, Mine Engineering, Mine Geology, Mine Survey, Mine Training, Mine Safety for owner operator and mine contractors
  • Oversee departmental operations to ensure production programs, improvement initiatives and mine development programs are completed in a timely manner, employees and equipment well managed.
  • Owner mining and drill and blast fleet operations
Experience
